A Champion of Minimally Invasive Procedures
Dr. Redan, recently accepted the position of medical director
of General Surgery at Florida Hospital Celebration Health.
Dr. Redan has 15 years experience in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic
surgery, and has been a pioneer in this field since its infancy.
He has traveled the world teaching and training people from
several countries about the benefits of minimally invasive
surgery. Many of the instruments used in laparoscopic surgery
have been developed with his input and advice. As a Board-certified
general surgeon, Dr. Redan perform many kinds of minimally
invasive procedures, including those for:
- Adhesions Causing Abdominal Pain
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
- Colon
- Biliary Tract
- Spleen
- Thoracic Surgery
- General Surgery
Additionally, he performs thoracoscopy (removal of lungs
through the scope) and esophageal surgery (food pipe surgery).
One of Dr. Redan's current areas of interest and teaching
is with hand-assisted laparoscopy, where he is able to introduce
a hand into the abdominal cavity to remove organs safer and
in less operative time.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of
Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School, where he
also completed his general surgery residency, Dr. Redan served
as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard.
He then worked in Pennsylvania and New York before joining
the medical staff at Florida Hospital Celebration Health.
Dr. Redan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
and a member of several professional organizations, including
the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. His practice is
open to new patients!
Dr. Redan teaches for several biomedical companies, including
Ethicon Endosurgery, Smith and Nephew, and has proctored innumerable
surgeons throughout the country in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic
surgery techniques. He has also directed courses through the
Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and SAGES. In addition,
he has written numerous professional articles and several
textbook articles about the subject, and has created multimedia
presentations for his peers.

Surgical Training Institute, Florida Hospital, Celebration
Health.
